Campbells The Brothers Shiraz

Campbells The Brothers Shiraz

Campbells The Brothers Shiraz is dark crimson with purple highlights. A deep and aromatic nose of plum and blackberry fruit, with oak derived vanillin and spice.

The palate is full bodied with complex layers of ripe plum and dark cherry fruits. Carefully selected oak adds a touch of earth and spice with finely grained tannins providing texture and length. A stylish wine with the natural building blocks to age and develop in bottle.

After fermentation for five days using closed fermenters, the wine was aged in new American and French oak puncheons for a period of 2 years.

“Great wine does take time, and The Brothers Shiraz has certainly taken a long time in the making. Tended by hand from vine to bottle, this is the pinnacle of our endeavours and the ultimate expression of Rutherglen Shiraz.” – Colin Campbell

The Campbell’s story at Rutherglen began in 1870 and is one of evolution, tenacity and determination, building on the experience of generations past with a dedication to innovation

“The passion and drive we feel to make the best wine we can, comes from within; we live and breathe it.
We grew up amongst the vineyards, farm and winery. This is our life. We know our black and reddened clays, the rocky outcrops, the frosty Winter, the smell of Spring with the flush of green followed by the inevitable warm and dry Summer. The steadying influence of Dad is still felt as I recall- helping in the winery; Baume rounds and pump overs during vintage and fortified work in the summer. This life of experience has helped shape us just as previous Campbells generation did for Dad and so on. Our story is very much about the lineage of time and tradition, and about perfecting our craft in this blessed place called Rutherglen in Victoria, Australia.
Julie Campbell, Chief Winemaker”

Campbells

Campbells winery and vineyards are situated in the historic Rutherglen Wine Region of North East Victoria.
Brothers Malcolm and Colin are the fourth generation to carry on the Campbell tradition started by their great grandfather John Campbell in Rutherglen in 1870. Together with their wives Jenny and Prue, they have forged a strong reputation for Campbells as a benchmark Rutherglen wine producer.

Victoria

This region is predominately a fortified wine area, with the unique styles of fortified Muscat and Tokay (often termed as Australia’s most distinctive wines). Lindsay Brown a pastoralist, first planted vines in the 1850s following advice from newly arrived German settlers. His lead was followed by a group of retired miners who established wineries that to this day bear their names, Campbell’s Winery, Gehrig Wines, Morris Wines and G. Sutherland Smith & Sons. Many of the wineries and vineyards today were established before the turn of the 19th century. The climate is regarded as warm. The main wine styles: Rich fortified Muscats & Tokays; Port – hugh tannic reds requiring many years’ cellaring to come into balance.

Shiraz

flourish in a range of climates. In the warm to hot climates you can expect extremely intense aromatic, rich, full bodied wines, with hugh fruit (almost sweet) and chocolately tasting. In the more moderate/cooler climates you’re more likely to find structured Shiraz wines with black cherry, pepper and spice characters rather than the chocolate and fruit styles found in warmer climates.
