Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz

Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz

This Shiraz is made from grapes selected from five vineyards in the Hilltops district around Young on the South Western Slopes of New South Wales.

Located approximately 30 minutes north of Canberra in the small rural town of Murrumbateman, Clonakilla is one of the great success stories of Australian wine and home to some of the most impressive red wines made anywhere in the country. The Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz regularly delivers exceptional value drinking and the 2017 vintage is again in outstanding form

Great colour again this year with a surge of rich black fruit through the aroma. There is plenty of ripe tannin driving the palate.Drink now or cellar with confidence for ten years or more.

Medium crimson with bright reds showing the racy acidity, red fruit dominant with spicy peppery palate. A medium weight wine that has an attractive presence.

Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz – read the reviews

“94 Points. I’ve liked a great many of the previous releases of this wine but this is my favourite of the lot. It’s a ripper. Balanced, well fruited, spice-laden, perfumed, floral and then sweetly exotic. It smells and tastes beautiful, and is so finely etched with tannin; it has everything exactly where you’d like it to be. I’d send a case of this straight into the pool room but I’d like my stash kept a lot closer to me than that and, besides, I don’t have a pool room anyway. Buy. Tasted: Jul18 Alcohol: 14% Price: $35 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2018 – 2025+” – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

“93/100. Excellent dark crimson-purple; a savoury infused wine with wafts of prosciutto, smoked sausages, iodine, cherries and pips plus toastiness from the oak. Medium-bodied, slightly sinewy tannins. This needs more time to settle and will reward those who do so. Price when Tasted: $35.00 Date when Tasted: 01 Jan 2018 Alcohol: 14 % Drink By: 2030 Closure: Screwcap”- Jane Faulkner, winecompanion.com.au.
