Heartland Wines – Winery of the month

Heartland wines – winery of the month

The Heartland story began in the late 1990’s when winemaker Ben Glaetzer became excited about the outstanding quality of fruit being grown in some of South Australia’s lesser-known regions, in particular Langhorne Creek. Ben Glaetzer is obviously better known for the amazing wines produced under his own name.

Together with industry veterans, Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook and more recently Nick Keukenmeester, they grew Heartland into an award-winning winery.

Ben Glaetzer makes Heartland Wines at Barossa Vintners in Tanunda, South Australia some 100 kilometres from Langhorne Creek. Barossa Vintners was the first of its kind. Conceived as a state-of-the-art winemaking facility with the capacity to make wines for a core group of top end producers whose fame and demand had grown beyond their winemaking capacities. Completed in 1995,

Barossa Vintners has been developed make wines in the most natural possible way. The natural slope of the land allows the winery to be gravity fed and avoid harsh pumping of the grapes and juice. The solar panels allow us to minimize our carbon footprint and keep the power bills down.

Heartland takes its environmental impact seriously. This affects everything from what they do in the vineyard to what happens at the winery and every step in between.

Their own vineyard in Langhorne Creek is heavily involved in the reintroduction of native species with plantings of indigenous trees, grasses and bushes throughout the property. This in turn, creates a haven for native fauna. We have implemented stringent water controls, restricting usage and tailoring watering to the needs of individual varieties. We have introduced goats as a natural way to add back to the soil and to keep grass and weeds at bay.

“Heartland is that place between the vines with the best view of the gum trees. You might be in another part of Australia or another part of the world …but you can taste it from where you are.”

For September only we are offerning a 10% discount on all Heartland Wines so that you can try for yourself.

DPD link with Post Office

Last week DPD Local has announced a partnership with the Post Office that will see it add 1,500 of their sites to the DPD Pickup network. From next week, DPD Local will deliver parcels directly to Post Offices throughout the UK to provide a convenient location for your customers to collect their parcels from, when they can’t be home to receive them.

Details of how to evoke this option will follow next time.

With more people moving back to their workplaces, customers will want more choice around their Pickup location and the addition of 1,500 Post Office branches across the UK ahead of the peak will provide just that. This is a great partnership and one which will play a role in reducing the impact of our vans on the environment, provide more choice and convenience for your customers and significantly reduce the CO2 in the last mile delivery.
