Beresford Bell Tower Shiraz

Beresford Bell Tower Shiraz

Beresford Bell Tower Shiraz

On the nose there are notes of red cherries and mulberries, with hints of herb and spices. This opens on the palate to very fruity and approachable dark mulberries with fresh plum fruit flavours. A wine of balanced structure, elegance and power.

Our Bell Tower Range pays tribute to the iconic tower that stands proud on the Estate property in McLaren Vale. Housing a grand 1894 Henry Stuckstede Cast Bronze Bell; crafted in St. Louise, USA where it took residency in a German church and was inscribed ‘FRIDED AUF ERDEN’, meaning Peace on Earth.
Beresford – Intensely passionate wines.
REGION McLaren Vale
Situated approximately 35km south of Adelaide, McLaren Vale was first established as a grape-growing region in 1838. Warm summers, moderate winters,
dominant winter rain and low humidity characterize its Mediterranean climate.

COLOUR Bright dark plum red colour with good depth
BOUQUET Displaying spicy, slightly dusty closed aromatics at first, opening to spicy mulberry fruit aromas.
PALATE A rich and smooth Shiraz with lovely fruit and spice flavours. Sweet, round palate with loose tannins balanced with dark mulberry and fresh plum fruits flavor and style.
WINEMAKING Grapes are picked on both colour and flavour development, then crushed and fermented for 7-10 days at approximately 20 degrees. Small open top fermenters
are used with hand pumping over and returns to ensure optimum extraction of tannins and colour. The ferment is then softly pressed using an airbag press, so we do not extract the bitter tannin, producing a fruit driven style of wine. Once pressed the wine is allowed to go through natural malolactic fermentation. Further complexity is added by maturation in French and American oak for 9-12 months.

South Australia

The McLaren Vale is predominately a red wine region, producing some of the best red wines in South Australia. Vineyards were first planted in the mid 1800s. One of the early pioneers Thomas Hardy established a business that evolved to BRL Hardy, one of the largest wine companies in the country. The region also has a healthy number of boutique wineries that consistently make fine wines and experiment with different wine styles. The climate is warm to hot with dry summers, and benefits from cooling breezes from the St Vincent Gulf. The main wine styles: Red – Shiraz (rich, ripe & generous), Cabernet Sauvignon; White – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.
