VEGAN FRIENDLY

BREMERTON NAP SHIRAZ – selection process – Rebecca Wilson, winemaker. – So far the parcels that have allowed a NAP shiraz to be made have been very concentrated in colour (anthocyanins) a natural preservative. Also very microbially sound so able to sit with no SO2. Great fruit expression and natural balance. We monitor parcels post MLF and pick the ones to be topped and no so2 added then monitor their development for 4-5 month to allow for some natural stability before committing them to the final selection.

Vinification details
Fruit was picked from Bremerton’s Langhorne Creek vineyard. After fermenting in open top fermenters, the wine was pressed to oak and aged on lees for four months.
The natural concentration of anthocyanin (colour) helps preserve this fresh and vibrant wine. Selected barrels were carefully gravity-racked to blend then sent to bottle young to capture the vibrancy.

Bremerton

This is a real family business – Craig & Mignonne Willson and their daughters Lucy & Rebecca. In 2001, Rebecca was named in the top five ‘Winestate Magazine’ winemakers of the year and ‘The Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year for Cabernet Sauvignon’. We believe she is a star moving into ascendancy!

South Australia

Langhorne Creek is a little known region with major importance, especially for the production of red wine. Fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon with its minty overtones is the most significant product of the region. Viticulture dates from the 1850s when Frank Potts established Bleasdale the region’s only winery to stay in continuous production. It was only in the 1990s that the major wine companies started setting up in the region. Its significance being the availability and certainty of irrigation water from the Murray-Darling system, providing the facility to grow grapes of very good quality at relatively low costs. It has a mild climate with little variation across the region. The main wine styles: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz.

Shiraz

flourish in a range of climates. In the warm to hot climates you can expect extremely intense aromatic, rich, full bodied wines, with hugh fruit (almost sweet) and chocolately tasting. In the more moderate/cooler climates you’re more likely to find structured Shiraz wines with black cherry, pepper and spice characters rather than the chocolate and fruit styles found in warmer climates.
