Langmeil Valley Floor Shiraz

Langmeil Valley Floor Shiraz

Langmeil Valley Floor Shiraz – The ‘Valley Floor’, like other premium wines of the Barossa, is a regional blended wine. Grapes are sourced from specially selected vineyards across all the sub regions of the Barossa from a range of 120, 70, 50 year old and younger select parcels of which are then open fermented and basket pressed to make this classic example of honest, hand made Barossa Valley Shiraz.

The Barossa is famous for its viticulture, history and winemaking dating back to the 1840s. At its heart is the Valley Floor, a highly-prized strip of prime viticultural land which is the very foundation and forms the essence of this wine. A true taste of the Barossa. Local knowledge has helped us select and secure prized Shiraz across the breadth and depth of the Barossa while retaining the foundation fruit from the Valley Floor. The combination of hands on winemaking and vineyard diversity results in pure Barossa Shiraz. This is why the Langmeil Valley Floor Shiraz has received the Barossa Trust Mark.

Colour: Medium depth crimson with purple hues. Aroma: A rich and lifted aroma of Satsuma plum and mulberry mingle with sweet spice, chocolate hints and savoury tones. Palate: Rich, sweet and spicy fruit in balance with velvety yet youthfully austere tannins. A complex, medium to full bodied wine showing hints of mocha and vanilla, which flow through to the lengthy, fruitful, pepper and spice finish. Cellaring: 2018 – 2028

Langmeil

“Family owned and operated, Langmeil is the home of the Barossa and Australia’s oldest surviving vineyard planted to Shiraz in 1843, from where the iconic Freedom 1843 Shiraz hails.
Although it is not that many vintages since the Bitter and Lindner families re-established the abandoned winery, Langmeil has had considerable success and was recently awarded 5 Stars in the Halliday Wine Companion.

South Australia

The Barossa Valley is one of the major regions in Australia, where many of the major wine companies are based. It is believed the first vineyards were planted in the 1840s by Silesian migrants (who settled in Bethany). There followed a rapid expansion of plantations. The early styles of wines produced were heavy dry red wines and fortified wines that were popular both domestically and in Britain. After the Second World War the styles shifted to lighter table wines with production of Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The Barossa Valley is home to some very well known names such as Seppelt, Wolf Blass and Penfolds as well as many smaller producers. The climate is Mediterranean with hot dry summers and cool wet winters, making it ideal for viticulture. The main wine styles: White – Semillon, Riesling, Chardonnay, Semillon-Chardonnay blend; Red – Shiraz (full bodied & ripe) with Old Vine Shiraz a speciality of many vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Shiraz-Grenache-Mataro blend, Cabernet-Merlot blend.
