Keith Tulloch Shiraz

Keith Tulloch Shiraz

Keith Tulloch Shiraz – A Rhone Valley style, with fully ripe Shiraz characters of blood plum and ripe black cherry fruit balanced with the exotic Viognier aromas of citrus blossom and rose petal. Married together these varieties produce a palate with richer aromatic charm, warm briar berry spice and a velvety medium-bodied balance. With a rich, ripe black-fruit softness on entry, and smooth roundness and chocolatey softness onto the finish. Adding to the mix is the finely integrated weave of supple oak, and a delicate floral hint of violets and rose-petal resulting in a beautifully complete blend. 5% Viognier.

Katnook Founder’s Block wines are named in honour of the original land holding of John Riddoch, the founder of Coonawarra.

The Founder’s Block range is styled for everyday enjoyment, inviting a modern generation of wine consumers to explore the pleasures of Coonawarra wine. The wines are grounded in the past but genuinely focused on the present. They are honest, fruit driven, harmonious and shine with pure Coonawarra character.

Katnook’s rich history stretches back to 1896, when Coonawarra’s first vintage was crafted in our Woolshed by entrepreneurial wine pioneer, John Riddoch – who immigrated from Scotland. He recognised the enormous potential of the maritime climate and unique terra rossa soils which now define Coonawarra wine styles.
But it all began even earlier. In 1861, Riddoch arrived in Coonawarra, after successfully operating a trading post in the goldfields. He purchased vast parcels of land over the years and was impressed with the remarkable rate of growth of fruit trees and vines. In 1867 John commissioned the building of his ‘Woolshed’ which still operates as Katnook’s barrel room today. Determined to encourage closer settlement in the southeast, in 1890 Riddoch formed the Coonawarra Fruit Colony, established its administration headquarters at ‘Katnook’ and sold off his land in 10 acre blocks. It was here at ‘Katnook’ that the Coonawarra wine region was born.
Riddoch planted 140 acres of vines and his first vintage in 1895 was a modest event in a neighbouring nursery shed. However, his second, with a much greater volume of fruit and attended to by qualified winemaker William Salter was made in the woolshed at ‘Katnook’ in 1896. By all accounts this second vintage gave an indication of the outstanding quality that was to come.

H&V Eden Valley Riesling

Hill & Valley showcase the great diversity of the regions surrounding the winery. From the cooler Adelaide Hills to the elevated Eden Valley vineyards to those situated on the Barossa Valley floor, these ancient soils provide the base for great wines that speak of their origins.

Sourced from William Hurn’s vineyard in the northern Eden Valley, this vineyard is a star performer amongst the Peter Lehmann Wines’ growers, with fruit often being selected for our coveted flagship Wigan Riesling. The Hill & Valley Riesling is a classic example of a Peter Lehmann white wine, showing refined fruit purity and the hallmark minerality, typical of the Eden Valley. It can be enjoyed fresh in its youth or can be aged with confidence to develop the mature bottle complexity expected of a top flight Riesling from this famed sub-region.

Serve lightly chilled. It is a perfect aperitif and the ideal wine with fresh oysters, shellfish or pan-fried white fish.

Barossa is one of the only wine regions in Australia to have neighbouring warm and cool climate growing conditions. Barossa Valley enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate characterised by hot dry summers, relatively low rainfall and low humidity, providing perfect conditions for growing grapes. The lower Barossa floor is drier, warmer and is ideally suited to growing iconic full bodied Shiraz. The higher altitude Eden Valley region has a cooler climate with abundant winter rainfall. The soil in Eden Valley is rocky and acidic, with shallow rock and shale that creates world class Rieslings.
Peter Lehmann Wines works collaboratively with over 140 growers across the length and breadth of the region, many of whom have been involved with the Peter Lehmann story for decades. Through these strong bonds and generations of working with the region’s finest grape-growers, Peter Lehmann Wines continues to craft a range of premium wines that speak of their origins.

Tamar Ridge Devils Corner Sauvignon Blanc

Devils Corner Sauvignon Blanc

Devils Corner Sauvignon Blanc

Pronounced aromas of fresh cut grass with a wash of zesty lemons and a drizzle of asparagus. The fresh cut grass flows through to the palate with a hint of leafy green herbs. Overall a wine that is bursting with gentle mouthfilling fruit flavours while leading to a finish that is crisp and refreshing.

To produce Devils Corner Sauvignon Blanc grapes are sourced from vineyards located in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley and the East Coast of the island. This multi-vineyard approach allows focus on the strengths of each location and produce a more consistent, crisp and fresh Sauvignon Blanc. The bouquet displays grassiness, asparagus and tomato bush leaf. This is interwoven with hints of passionfruit and citrus. The passionfruit flows through to the palate with delicate fruit sweetness and crisp acidity. Overall a wine that is bursting with flavour while leading to a finish that is crisp and refreshing. Try with any seafood (especially calamari and fried whitebait) or char-grilled asparagus drizzled with olive oil and a really good shaved aged parmesan cheese; or an Asian-inspired seafood salad; or just enjoy it on its own.

The name of the winery comes from the fact that intrepid sailors navigating Tasmania’s Tamar River discovered a treacherous bend and named it Devil’s Corner.
