Trentham Family Reserve Cabernet

Trentham Family Reserve Cabernet

Cabernet Sauvignon vines are perfectly suited to the Coonawarra region, where a magical combination of the terra rossa soil and cool maritime climate produce very high quality grapes.
A vibrant red-purple colour with lifted violet and mint aromas. The palate has great length with balanced cassis fruit and dark chocolate.

Perhaps nothing thrives better in the terra rossa soil of Coonawarra than the hearty cab sauv grape. As it digs deep into the earth, soaking up the goodness of a cool maritime climate and taking its (slow) time ripening, something incredible happens – a rich, 94 point vino is born.
Profile – Chocolate, Mint, Plum, Medium-bodied, Smooth, Elegant

Purple in colour and medium in body, this cracker of a cabernet hails from Trentham Estate. As part of their carefully curated Family Reserve series, this red showcases some of the best Coonawarra has to offer a wine lover. Packed with earthy cassis and blackcurrant, lifted violet and a hint of mint, this is a world class cabernet from world class New World terroir.
Eager to please straight out of the bottle or worthy of a decent cellaring, this 2012 beauty is Coonawarra epitomised. And boy, does it taste good.

Trentham Estate

Trentham is a small boutique winery located on the banks of the Murray River. It produces wines of outstanding value for money with great varietal fruit flavours.

South Australia

Coonawarra is considered the most renowned wine region in Australia. It has the ‘terra rossa’ soils and some great winemakers, and subsequently responsible for some of the best wines produced in Australia. Most notably red wines and Cabernet Sauvignon in particular. The first vineyard was planted in the 1880s at Yallum, (John Riddoch’s). The region did not establish its reputation as a winemaking area until the 1950s when Wynns and Penfolds purchased acreage on the back of a resurgence in the table wine market. Investment by large and small companies led to expansion, securing Coonawarrra’s status as a great wine. The climate is regarded as Mediterranean. The main wine styles: Red – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet-Merlot blend, Shiraz; White – Chardonnay.
