Paulett Wines is about 1 ½ hours drive north from Adelaide in the beautiful Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley. It is home to Neil and Alison Paulett and their winery. The Polish Hill River region was named after the Polish Settlers of the mid 1800’s. The area is blessed with a climate ideal for premium grape growing and the combination of consistently good winter rains, hot summers tempered by cool nights and a long ripening period produces grapes of exceptional flavours and balance.
Rated by Halliday as a 5 star winery
Vineyards were first established in the mid 1800s. Some of the early winery names, Wendouree, Knappstein and Quelltaler are still in the region. Nowadays there is a mix of very large companies and a significant number of boutique wineries. The climate is regarded as warm, but there are variations due to altitude. The main wine styles: White – Riesling, Semillon, Chardonnay; Red – Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon.
