Cullen Mangan Vineyard East Block

Cullen Mangan Vineyard East Block

Cullen Mangan Vineyard East Block is made from grapes grown at the Mangan Vineyard and is a blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot.

The 2021 Cullen Wines ‘Mangan East Block’ is a Margaret River red blend primarily featuring Malbec and Petit Verdot, noted for its dark, ripe wild berry, floral, and spice aromas. It is characterized by a “tannic growl” typical of Malbec, balanced with generous, ripe fruit. The wine is produced using biodynamic principles, reflecting a commitment to sustainable, site-expressive viticulture.
Key Details of the 2021 Mangan East Block:
  • Blend: Malbec and Petit Verdot.
  • Region: Margaret River, Western Australia.
  • Profile: Dark berries, dusky florals, and spices.
  • Structure: Structured tannins with ample fruit, characteristic of the Mangan vineyard.
  • Viticulture: Certified biodynamic.
This wine, part of the Cullen Wines Mangan vineyard range, is produced under the direction of Vanya Cullen, known for her focus on site-expressive, high-quality, and biodynamic wines.

Cullen follows the maxim that states that great wines are made in the vineyard. Thus, prior to planting, extreme care is taken in choosing the best possible site. Fruit for all Cullen Wines is sourced exclusively from two vineyards, the Cullen Estate Vineyard and the Cullen Mangan Vineyard, both certified A Grade Biodynamic by the Biological Farmers Association (BFA) of Australia

Red wine quality is defined to a large extent by the ripeness of tannin. The wine style is framed around these fine grained tannins coaxed from grapes grown on low yielding vines. This is the theme for all Cullen red wines and gives finesse, flavour and longevity.

Cullen Wines respectfully acknowledges the Wardandi people, past and present, traditional custodians of the land on which our wines are grown

Cullen Wines

Cullen Wines

One of Australia’s best small wineries. In 2000 winemaker Vanya Cullen became the Qantas/The Wine Magazine Winemaker of the year. She was the third recipient of this prize, the first Western Australian and the first woman to win the award. Vanya is the daughter of Di & Kevin Cullen, who were the first to plant a commercial vineyard in Margaret River (1966).

Western Australia

Margaret River Wines

Regarded as one of Australia’s best wine producing regions. It is synonymous with a new era in Australian wine. Margaret River Wine really began its vineyard life as a result of two research reports from Californian viticulturalist Professor Harold Olmo and the Western Australian scientist Dr John Gladstone. In 1965 Dr Gladstone’s report indicated that the region had all the attributes to produce world quality wines. This advise was acted on by Dr Tom Cullity who set up his Vasse Felix vineyard near Willyabrup, followed by Dr Kevin Cullen and his wife Di who set up Cullen Wines. The climate is regarded as ‘cool’ because of its long slow ripening season. This region is regarded along with Coonawarra and the Yarra Valley as one of the premium Cabernet Sauvignon areas in Australia. The main wine styles: Red – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet-Merlot, Shiraz; White – Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho.
