Peter Lehmann H&V Eden Valley Riesling

Peter Lehmann H&V Eden Valley Riesling

Peter Lehmann H&V Eden Valley Riesling

Peter Lehmann H&V Eden Valley Riesling – Bright and tangy with a nose of freshly picked limes, lemon meringue and lifted floral aromas. The palate shows great fruit purity with a juicy natural acid line. Lots of citrus flavours intertwined and a waxy minerality. Slight fruit sweetness balances the acidity and allows for good length on the finish.

SSourced from the super premium Riesling block of long-term growers Ben Wroxton and William ‘Bunga’ Hurn, located at the northern and central sections of the Eden Valley respectively. These vineyards possess all the hallmarks of classic Eden Valley Riesling sites – high altitude, shaly, schisty soil and sparse yet adequate canopy ensuring the fruit remains in optimum condition throughout ripening. The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning and transported immediately to the winery. The fruit was crushed, chilled and drained from the skins, with free-run juice separated as soon as possible. Juices were fined and cold settled before gently racking off settled solids. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using a neutral yeast strain to preserve and promote the pristine natural fruit flavours. Following a steady two week fermentation, the wine was clarified and bottled to retain freshness and purity.

Serve lightly chilled. A wonderful accompaniment to squid or charcoal roasted scallop tortellini with creamy bacon scallion glaze.

Barossa is one of the only wine regions in Australia to have neighbouring warm and cool climate growing conditions. Barossa Valley enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate characterised by hot dry summers, relatively low rainfall and low humidity, providing perfect conditions for growing grapes. The lower Barossa floor is drier, warmer and is ideally suited to growing iconic full bodied Shiraz. The higher altitude Eden Valley region has a cooler climate with abundant winter rainfall. The soil in Eden Valley is rocky and acidic, with shallow rock and shale that creates world class Rieslings.
Peter Lehmann Wines works collaboratively with over 140 growers across the length and breadth of the region, many of whom have been involved with the Peter Lehmann story for decades. Through these strong bonds and generations of working with the region’s finest grape-growers, Peter Lehmann Wines continues to craft a range of premium wines that speak of their origins.

Peter Lehmann Wines

Peter Lehmann’s personal bravery, loyalty and commitment to the Barossa forged the foundations of the winery that bears his name, built in 1979 to protect the livelihood of his mates, the independent Barossa grape growers, and their treasured vineyards. His passion for, and commitment to, the Barossa is infectious and continues with everyone today that is associated with Peter Lehmann Wines, now under the guidance of son Doug Lehmann.

South Australia

The Eden Valley is between 400 and 600 metres in the Barossa Range, part of the Mount Lofty Range. It shares it historical roots with the Barossa Valley. Yalumba has substantial vineyard holdings, and a winery at Angaston, the site of the first vines planted by founder Samuel Smith in 1849. The cool climate provides ideal conditions for the production of high quality Riesling, Chardonnay and Shiraz wine.
