Y Series Shiraz Viognier

Y Series Shiraz Viognier

Y Series Shiraz Viognier -Luscious and exotic aromas of boysenberry, Turkish delight, vanilla bean and violets. The medium bodied palate is framed by flavours of sweet Turkish delight and violets, while soft tannins provide a perfect complement to the succulent finish, which shows the synergy between these two varieties.

The Shiraz grapes selected for this wine are those which display the most perfumed and aromatic profile that compliments the fragrance of Viognier. Everything is done to preserve this aroma: cool fermentation, the addition of Viognier (including as many whole berries as possible) and no oak ageing are just some of the processes that go into the making of this wine. These combine to produce a wine that is bright, aromatic and exotic

Enjoy with duck and pork terrine or a red lentil curry with sweet potato, spinach and chick peas.

The Shiraz Viognier depicts the horse, a symbol of our past when they were the transport and tractor of Yalumba. Nowadays, we enjoy a day at the races watching magnificent thoroughbreds cross the finish line carrying our colours and money!

At Yalumba they believe that one good wine leads to another. The Y Series was created with that belief in mind.
The Y Series represents a collection of iconic classics and exciting new varietals. Each authentically crafted with fruit from South Australia’s most celebrated wine regions. They hope that the glass of wine you hold in your hand right now marks the beginning of a delicious journey, and we look forward to sharing our love of wine as you explore the Y Series.

“Founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family owned winery. Today, the winery is owned by fifth generation descendants, Robert & Sam Hill Smith and their families.
Yalumba is determined to create wines with genuine regional character, varietal flavour and individual personality; wines that say remarkable things about some of the world’s most remarkable wine regions.”

South Australia

South Australia is the largest wine producing state of Australia. It may be surprising to most that the Riverland region is the state’s largest grape producing area. The Barossa Valley is famed for its full-bodied, rich, ripe and generous reds. The Coonawarra is internationally renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon (and prized ‘terra rossa’ soils). Padthaway, McLaren Vale, and the Clare Valley all make major contributions, and the importance of the Adelaide Hills is rapidly increasing.

Shiraz Blends

Blend Australia’s finest fleshy fruity grape variety with other grape varieties results in some wonderful wines.
