Like other Victorian wine regions, Gippsland viticultral origins date back to the 1800s but ceased in the early 1900s. Its wine rebirth started in the 1970s but has had a slow growth since then. The climate is regarded as cool with cold winds from the Bass Strait coast. The main wine styles: White – Chardonnay; Red – Pinot Noir.
