Mollie & Merle Verdelho

Mollie & Merle Verdelho

Mollie & Merle Verdelho

A lifted wine with vibrant tropical fruit aromas and a palate that shows subtle pear flavours with a touch of citrus giving the wine mid-palate complexity. It’s complimented by a soft acid structure and a lingering finish that will please most palates – a delightfully fresh wine. Serve slightly chilled… a great food wine.

This wine has been named in honour of our grandmothers Mollie and Merle.
The grape variety Verdelho has been grown in Langhorne Creek for over 150 years. It is perfectly suited to our regions climate and growing conditions. We have chosen to make a fresh, vibrant style of Verdelho to express the pure varietal characters.
We have used only free run juice providing a clean focused Verdelho with lifted perfumed citrus aromas. The palate is bright and textural with fine acid balance and great length of flavour.

This is a real family business – Craig & Mignonne Willson and their daughters Lucy & Rebecca. In 2001, Rebecca was named in the top five ‘Winestate Magazine’ winemakers of the year and ‘The Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year for Cabernet Sauvignon’. We believe she is a star moving into ascendancy!

South Australia

Langhorne Creek is a little known region with major importance, especially for the production of red wine. Fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon with its minty overtones is the most significant product of the region. Viticulture dates from the 1850s when Frank Potts established Bleasdale the region’s only winery to stay in continuous production. It was only in the 1990s that the major wine companies started setting up in the region. Its significance being the availability and certainty of irrigation water from the Murray-Darling system, providing the facility to grow grapes of very good quality at relatively low costs. It has a mild climate with little variation across the region. The main wine styles: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz.
