Woodlands Wilyabrup Valley Clementine

Born from a love of Bordeaux Cabernet blends, and the dream to create a stellar red wine of their own, David and Heather Watson established Woodlands in 1973 within the Wilyabrup Valley. Early pioneers in the region, Woodlands now covers 27 hectares, is certified organic and has been awarded 5 red stars by James Halliday for producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. We are delighted to have been offered this limitededition wine parcel of 22 dozen as a one-off
purchase. ‘Clémentine’ is their Woodlands Brook Vineyard Cabernet blend. Produced since 2015, the wine takes its name from Watson family members, Andrew and Marie’s daughter; and would usually wholesale for a price similar to ‘Margaret’. However, due to a change in vintage and special pricing from the Watson’s, this wine will not be around for long. There are very limited supplies of this wine.

WOODLANDS CLÉMENTINE
Vineyards
This blend is produced from prime established vineyards within the Wilyabrup Valley of Margaret River, planted on soils with higher levels of gravel and clay with a North West exposure. Average vine age was twelve years.
Winemaking
Following fermentation, the ferments remained on skins for an extended period of time. Once pressed, the wine was transferred into new French oak barrels
where it remained for 18 months (35% new oak).
Taste
Quite charming and subtle, the nose gives the impression of salinity, with aromas of clove, cocoa, blood orange and touches of river silt sitting over dark fruit. The elegant palate mirrors the nose, with ripe red fruits layered over an acid backbone, creating a lovely mix of floral elements and fruits.
The wine lingers with some lovely acidity. This is a very driven wine with lots of latent power, best enjoyed from 2021 to 2026.
