Soldiers Block Chardonnay

Soldiers Block Chardonnay

Soldiers Block Chardonnay is an elegant and easy drinking wine. This vibrant Chardonnay exhibits lifted fruit character, bright tangerine fleshiness, textural mouth-feel, a bright palate and a long and foodie finish.

Long standing working relationships with some key growers enable us to source premium fruit, with the ultimate aim of making excellent quality Australian house wines with true style and character. Grapes were picked earlier than usual to ensure balance and freshness in the final wine. Harvesting took place in the early dawn hours when it’s still cool and calm which helps retain the rich characters within these grapes. Once in the cellar, they are gently crushed to maintain the bright, fresh flavours crucial to the clonal tang. Around 15% of the grapes are sourced from the cooler, sea breeze influenced Langhorne Creek area. This portion is barrel aged in French medium toast casks to obtain a more complex, textural and weighty style of wine. It is then added to the greater part of the blend which is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel to retain the fresh fruit characters.

This vibrant Chardonnay exhibits lifted fruit character, bright tangerine fleshiness, textural mouth- feel, a bright palate and a long and foodie finish. The judicious addition of blob of oaked Chardonnay adds palate weight and texture.

Eat with Full-flavoured fish such as trout or halibut or chicken in a light creamy sauce.

Bremerton NAP Shiraz

Bremerton NAP Shiraz - No Added Preservatives

Bremerton NAP Shiraz – No Added Preservatives

Bremerton have been experimenting with making wine without preservatives for a number of years, resulting in this Shiraz.

Rich and ripe with a concentrated plum fruit core and a silky texture.

VEGAN FRIENDLY

BREMERTON NAP SHIRAZ – selection process – Rebecca Wilson, winemaker. – So far the parcels that have allowed a NAP shiraz to be made have been very concentrated in colour (anthocyanins) a natural preservative. Also very microbially sound so able to sit with no SO2. Great fruit expression and natural balance. We monitor parcels post MLF and pick the ones to be topped and no so2 added then monitor their development for 4-5 month to allow for some natural stability before committing them to the final selection.

Vinification details
Fruit was picked from Bremerton’s Langhorne Creek vineyard. After fermenting in open top fermenters, the wine was pressed to oak and aged on lees for four months.
The natural concentration of anthocyanin (colour) helps preserve this fresh and vibrant wine. Selected barrels were carefully gravity-racked to blend then sent to bottle young to capture the vibrancy.

Bremerton is a Member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. Bremerton aims to be at the forefront of dealing with environmental issues within the wine industry and implements best practice principles on a wide range of environmental concerns including: caring for native wildlife, recycling winery waste products, water conservation policies, minimising pesticides and the use of sulphur, and working towards neutralisation of their carbon footprint.

Fiercely independent, extremely progressive and committed to looking after the land and its people, Yalumba acknowledges that the reputation of their wine is only as good as the next bottle a customer drinks.

In 1847 a 37-year-old brewer called Samuel Smith left his home in Wareham, Dorset with his wife Mary and their four children. Boarding a simple three-masted barque they left Plymouth and began the long and arduous journey to Australia, arriving in Port Adelaide. From there they trecked north to Angaston where Samuel took a job as a gardener. It was arguably this brave decision to start a new life in a remote and distant land, together with the hardship that they endured, that formed the strong sense of family unity that has been the bedrock of the family business ever since. In 1849 he started the wine farm that would grow over the next 5 generations to become one of Australia’s leading wineries, with a winemaking culture that is internationally recognised and respected. To embrace the native culture, Samuel decided to adopt a local name for his farm, calling it “Yalumba” meaning “all the country around’’ in the indigenous Peramangk language.

Yalumba operates the Southern Hemisphere’s only fully operational Cooperage, crafting bespoke oak barrels that elevate the wines aged within them. Our Nursery is a global leader in wine innovation, growing, evaluating and supplying quality grape vines to the Australian wine industry.

Y Series Pinot Grigio is a part of their Y Series range of excellent value wines.

Yalumba Antique Muscat NV

Yalumba Antique Muscat NV

Yalumba Antique Muscat NV

Luscious and intense, this gloriously indulgent dessert wine is made from Muscat grapes that are picked late for sweetness and aged in barrels for up to 10 years

WINEMAKING / VITICULTURE Made predominantly from the brown, red and black sports of the Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grape. Briefly fermented on skins to soften and release the flavours from the shrivelled and partially raisined berries. After draining and pressing, the fermentation is arrested by fortification with neutral grape spirit to retain the varietal flavours and liqueur sweetness in the wine. The vintage wines are then put into small oak barrels to mature, producing complex wines with raisin and fruitcake flavours. After many years of maturation, a selection of older and younger wines are judiciously blended to produce a complex and balanced wine displaying fruit and aged characters. The base blend, from which the Antique Muscat is bottled, is regularly re-blended to perpetuate the consistency and complexity of this classic style from year to year.
TASTING COMMENTS This luscious dessert wine is deep amber to tawny in colour with olive green hues. The wine exhibits classic perfumed aromas of the Muscat grape – lifted florals of rose petal, ginger spice and orange peel, with butterscotch and fruitcake. The palate is soft, silken and luscious in texture, quite viscous and concentrated, then richly flavoured showing a melange of raisined fruit, wood aged characters, fruitcake and spices, finishing with delicate and integrated spirit. This is an indulgent and seamless wine. Serve with blue cheese, crème brûlée or pecan pie and a dollop of triple cream. Can be served chilled, refrigerate after opening to maintain freshness.

Five generations and 170 years later Yalumba, Australia’s most historic family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over.
